hotels/hostels in NYC?!?!?? HELP?

i was wondering do you know any good sites, apart from Hotels.com, where i can book a cheap Hotel/Hostel? something around the $20-$40 range. nothing too spectacular.
just a good site, or maybe some you know by memory. if so, thanks!
